Download Instructions
You can download a "keyed" version of Stella from the campus server for use on your personal computer. The college has purchased a certain number of copies of Stella that can run concurrently, so you will be able to run Stella as long as your machine is connected to the campus network and there is a free copy available.
- In the Apple Menu, select Chooser.
The Chooser window should appear.
- Select AppleShare in the upper left frame, and then select
ACC/ResNet Services in the AppleTalk Zones frame.
- In the upper right frame, select ACC Server, and click on OK.
- A new window should appear with the title Connect to the
fileserver ``ACC Server'' as: You want to select Guest and then
click on OK.
- You will then have the option to select ACC Software, and
then click on OK.
- A new item should appear on your desktop with the title
ACC Software. You can now open this just as you would the hard
disk.
- Close the Chooser and open ACC Software, then Math/Statistics.
- In this folder, you should see a folder titled
Stella 4.0. Drag this folder to the desktop. It may take awhile for all
of the files to copy, but you only need to do this once.
- After this is done, you can open the Stella 4.0 folder on your hard disk and run Stella by double clicking on its icon.
Important Note: If Stella still does not
run, you may need to download a key access file from the server that allows
you to run keyed software.
Go to ACC Sofware like before, then open System Utilities and look for the file KeyAccess. Drag this file to your desktop, and drag it onto the System Folder on your hard disk.
You should be asked if you want to place KeyAccess in the Extensions folder.
Click on OK, and then you will need to restart your computer.
After you have restarted, go to the Chooser and select KeyAccess.
Hopefully this will get you going, but please let me know if you have any problems.
