Guidelines for Presentation 2, May 3 & 5, 2022
Math 217, Mathematics, Voting, & Democracy, Spring 2022

The purpose of this presentation is for your group to explore in detail an application or topic of your choosing that we have not discussed in class. This is an opportunity not only for you to learn something new but also for you to teach your peers, and me, something as well.

I encourage to think broadly about potential topics, and find something that interests you! For example, you could look into:

• The voting or parlimentary sytem in another country
• Instant runoff elections in Cambridge, MA, Maine, etc.
• Non-political voting systems, such as voting for the MVP in baseball or the Best Picture Oscar.
• If you are examining a voting system and can get the complete data, it may be interesting to see if a different decision procedure would give a different outcome.

You should plan for your presentations to be approximately 15 minutes, and most importantly, have fun with this!
