Math 104 - Calculus II - Spring 2009

Homework Assignments

The purpose of the homework assignments is to help you understand the concepts of the course and master the computational aspects of calculus. The homework will be the most beneficial to you if you work on it throughout the week, not just on the few days before it is collected on Thursday.

Each homework assignment will be worth a total of 12 points. An advanced math major will grade three problems from each assignment, with each problem graded fairly leniently and assigned a score of 0 - 3. The most important aspect of the homework is that you make a serious effort on every problem. These three problems will account for 9 of the 12 points, and the other 3 points will be based on a quick scan of the remaining problems to determine if you have made a sincere attempt on the entire assignment.

All assignments are from Calculus from Graphical,Numerical, and Symbolic Points of View, Vol 2, 2nd Edition by Ostebee and Zorn. Remember,

The text believes that you can think.
There will not be an example worked exactly like every homework problem.
Therefore, be sure to start your homework early!

You do not need to turn in the problems listed in parentheses, but you should be sure that you understand them completely. Homework is due in my office by 3:30 on Thursdays.
